Pelham House Care Home provides specialist care to people with early stage dementia. Almost all of our carers have a NVQ2 qualification in Dementia Awareness and aim to give each individual a full and purposeful life which enables them to lead a fulfilling life with dementia.
The leaflet This is me, published by the Alzheimer’s Society, helps carers to identify the resident’s needs, preferences, interests, likes and dislikes, and things that may cause the person to be worried or upset and how to address them.
Dementia care services provided to help residents enjoy a high quality of life include:-
- Person centred care planning
- Activities suited to their needs and interests
- Patience when communicating
- Familiarisation with surroundings
Dementia sufferers often cannot understand what is going on around them, so it can be very challenging and leads to feelings of anger and frustration.
Dementia does not change the person inside, but may affect their future plans and the way others may perceive them.
Pelham House provides the highest standards of dementia care, and is accredited as a Training Centre for the excellence of its staff training and development.
